Hello everyone,
Gertrudis group is used to go around catalan terres in a natural, healthy, friendly, rewarding and erotic way. As you know, we've been doing a genuine agricultural practice of our country during this year: the guaret system. For those who don't know, this practice comes from the wisdom of catalan peasants. They left the ground have a rest in order to pick up exceptional fruits. Being part of all those Festes Majors in which we have taken part has been an enormous pride for us then, really difficult to give up.
Sorry to say it this way, but your Festa Major has also become ours, and even though we are from La Garriga, we feel (without complexes), part of lots of narrow streets, squares, towns and cities of Catalonia, and so don't be surprised if you find us lost in concerts of your town. We're having a lovely and close year, in the sense we can go around Festes Majors in Catalonia, the way the canons of our country say it the way it has to be.
Once seen that we've not stayed at home doing nothing, we want to explain you we've travelled our music all around the world:
The tour in Nafarroa, where we've played for the first time in a Gaztexe with the company of our friend Iñaki Betagarri, and the concert in Totem's concert hall with our teachers, Ojos de Brujo; the concert in Berlin for Saint George's day, with the great Lluís Llach reciting poetry and telling us that his Dos Cavalls is also called Gertrudis; the tour in the south of India with the puppeteer Eugeni Navarro, a genuine touristic guide; Gerard Quintana and Xavi Lloses,, such astronauts, the Tricicle, such Gato's fans, and the incredible dancer Sol Pico, such a great woman.Th ese trips have really been intensive and hard to forget. In fact, this August, we continue with five more concerts: Olargues, Andorra, Donosti and Burrada and Montpellier fiestas. We hope if you go on holiday on some of these places, please say something to us in catalan…. We really miss you!
Cheers!
Burgos danced in the rhythm of Catalan "Garriguenca" Summery Rumba. We've been really hot in Burgos. The rain scared us, but it finally escaped. Burgos fiestas began with Gertrudis and the fireworks. It's the fourth time this city invites us, and every time the welcome is more special. We hope it continues this way for a long time!
And now you'll have to wait till August… !In the marquee of the Central Parc in Andorra la Vella!!We'll leave the heat to visit fresher lands. On August the 7th at about half past eleven, Gertrudis meets again with all the Andorrans who love rumba!
You can see some pictures in our facebook of the unforgettable experience in India. The festival was amazing, people was so pleasant… it was a really different trip from the ones we are used to. The good thing is also the fact that there's an intention of repeating the festival the other way, so that we are now part or the organization, bringing Indian artists to our country. We will rack our brains!
Apart from that, we'd really want to thank you all the people of the organization and those who made this amazing journey possible: artists and production team. Part of the big success of that trip having people so sensitive to their artistic and creative tasks.
Now it's time to prepare for Burgos on Friday the 25th! See you soon!
We've not disappeared….but perhaps we might have not explained well.. and now we want to clear it up. Gertrudis continues going around the world to prepare new song you will be able to hear on 2011. The first thing is the trip to thiruvanantharapuram in India, the city which invited us at the BKBé Festival.
We want to make our songs breath fresh air from other countries and lands, and so that during all this year we will inform you of all these expeditions. It will be funny and we'll explain it to you! Cheers, rumba and patience friends!
